For many international students, understanding how to apply to UC Riverside or how to apply to a UC university can feel overwhelming, especially when navigating new academic systems, English requirements, and cultural expectations. Now, with EduBookings, students can apply directly to the Admission Preparation Program (APP) and begin their academic journey toward a bachelor’s degree at UC Riverside with guided support every step of the way. Applying through EduBookings, you can get up to a $12,000 scholarship towards the tuition cost.

The Admission Preparation Program (APP) was created specifically to help international students study in California, experience real U.S. university coursework, and become strong applicants for UC Riverside or other top universities across the United States.

What Is the Admission Preparation Program-APP?

APP is a 9-month academic preparation program designed for international students who want to transition smoothly from high school to a U.S. bachelor’s degree. It combines:

  • Advanced Academic English instruction
  • College preparation and study skills training
  • Enrollment in real UCR undergraduate credit courses
  • Access to full UCR campus resources and student life

Students do not just learn about university life, they live it and earn their first year of university credits.

Who Is Eligible to Apply?

  • Have completed high school
  • Hold a minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Have the following English proficiency scores: TOEFL iBT 71, IELTS 5.5, or Duolingo 95+
  • Will study on an F-1 student visa

This program is ideal for students researching how to apply to a bachelor in the US, how to study in California as an international student, or how to study abroad through a structured pathway program.

How the Program Works

Students progress through three quarters, gradually increasing their number of for-credit university classes:

Quarter 1
College preparation coursework + 1–2 UCR credit classes (3-6 Credits)

Quarter 2
College preparation coursework + 2–3 UCR credit classes (6-9 Credits)

Quarter 3
College preparation coursework + 3–4 UCR credit classes (9-12 Credits)

Students may earn up to one full year 24+ of transferable university credits, potentially shortening a traditional 4-year degree to just 3 years.

Strong Admission Outcomes

More than 90% of students who successfully complete the Admission Preparation Program are admitted into UC Riverside undergraduate degree programs. While admission is not automatic, this pathway has a proven track record because students spend the year building the exact academic foundation UCR expects, while earning real university credit and integrating into campus life from day one.

APP international students arrive to the admissions process already prepared, confident, and familiar with faculty expectations, classroom culture, and academic support systems. This makes transitioning into a full bachelor’s degree program smoother, less stressful, and more successful than jumping in without preparation.

Flexible Pathways after APP

Once international students complete the program, they have two strong academic routes depending on their goals:

  • Enter UC Riverside Full-Time: Students who finish APP with strong academic performance can move directly into a UCR bachelor’s degree program, continuing their studies with faculty, classmates, and a campus they already know well.
  • Transfer Credits to Another U.S. University: The academic credits earned during the program are transferable, allowing students to apply to universities across the United States while carrying up to one year of college coursework with them.

This flexibility empowers international students to shape their own academic path, whether they choose UC Riverside as their long-term home or use the program as a strategic launchpad to other top-ranked U.S. universities.
